Travel Tip: Packing Made Easy a.k.a. How To Pack for Kids

Last year after baby boy was born, my entire family came to visit. My sister-in-law shared with me how she simplifies packing for her 4 girls. I thought it was ingenious, so now I am sharing it with you:
  1. Buy a box of the gallon sized Ziploc bags.
  2. Put one outfit in a bag (undies, tights/socks, skirt/pants, shirt, sweater, etc.).
  3. Label the bag with the child's name.
  4. Repeat for each child and for each day you will be gone.
Now you kids outfits are neatly packed, and easy to pull out of the suitcase. Plus, you'll save time by not having to coordinate outfits. Heck! Since the outfits are already coordinated, the kiddos could even choose which one to wear.

  1. Great tip! I think I should do this regularly so that my 8 year old son's drawers don't look like they were robbed.

Popping in from SITS to wish you a Terrific Thursday.

  6. Good idea about the packing for kids :) I usually just cram all the stuff for two kids in one bag and then get there and sort it all out. Your way sounds much more organized.

  8. our kindergartner told us this tip one year because we were going camping. It's great because dirt always gets into the kids' suitcases, but when the outfits (esp underwear) are in the ziplock bags, they stay clean anyway.

  14. I like this idea because it keeps your suitcase tidy, and gives your kids independent choices without having to rumble around so much. Those bags are pretty sturdy, so they could be re-usable as well by just keeping them in your case after the trip.
